Join us for our Traveling Homeschoolers retreat in the Rocky Mountains! We’ll enjoy cookouts and campfires, zip-lining and wall-climbing, game-playing and roller skating, crafting and drawing, fishing and swimming, hiking and horseback riding, and so much more!
This retreat is great for the whole family! Grandparents, extended family, and empty-nest homeschoolers are welcome, too. We’ll enjoy a group family fun night, campfires, a private cookout, game nights, and meet-ups throughout the week. Rooms, meals, and the scheduled group activities listed in this paragraph are all included in the price.
A lot of other activities will be available for families to plan in smaller groups, such as: archery, sports, challenge courses, arts and crafts, swimming, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, disk golf, climbing wall, zip-lining, mini golf, and more. (Many of these activities are free to guests, some cost a nominal fee for materials or rental, while others cost more.)
*I’ve reserved a lodge exclusively for our group. Register early to insure a room in the group lodge. I’ll have to drop unused rooms soon after our registration deadline, but should be able to add families after this date. Your room may be in a different lodge, however.
Lodging & Meals
Our rooms are similar to hotel rooms, but without the extras. They have two queen beds and one single floor mattress (suitable for a younger child), telephone, and wireless internet access. As with our other retreats, there are no TVs in the rooms. (We don’t miss them at all – we’re too busy playing, relaxing, and getting to know the other families in our group.)
The max is 5 people per room, regardless of age (even infants), so if your party is larger than that, you’ll need two (or more) rooms.
Meals will be provided from dinner on Saturday, May 27, through lunch on Saturday, June 3. Please note on your registration form if you have allergies or other food issues.
(I’ve been told that the buffet in the dining room has plenty of options for all types of diets and there are labels of the allergens in each entrée, so guests can make the correct choices.)
Cost and What’s Included
The cost for your family will vary, depending on children’s ages and how many are in your party, but here is the maximum you’ll pay per room (your total will most likely be less than these estimates, these are totals per family, per room – not per person):
Family of 2: $1360
Family of 3: $1,730
Family of 4: $2,100
Family of 5: $2,470
Your total includes your registration fee, lodging for 7 nights, all scheduled group activities (a group family fun night, a group campfire, a private cookout, group game nights and meet-ups), and meals starting from dinner on our arrival day through lunch on our departure day.
Any extra, non-group activities that have a fee (climbing wall, horseback riding, guided hikes, etc.) will be extra. A lot of activities are available at the site for free or a nominal fee for supplies or rental. Here’s a list of available activities.
For families flying in, round-trip shuttle service from Denver International Airport to the YMCA is available and will cost extra. I’ll post information about that the group rate soon.
