    Universal 2019 - FAQs

What dates are our tickets valid for? Tickets will be valid November 1-30. However, all park days must be used within 7 days. For example, if you use the first park day on November 1, you'll need to use remaining day(s) November 7. They'll expire after that and unused days won't be refunded. What type of tickets will you offer? We're offering 2-day, 2-park, and 3-day, 3-park tickets this year. See my website for more information about each. Do the tickets include tax, etc.? The price includes everything. There are no hidden charges. Are the tickets discounted? Yes, you're saving $143+ per 2-day, 2-park ticket, and $165+ per 3-day, 3-park ticket that includes Volcano Bay, comparing it to the online price discounted price. Do I have to register for the Disney trip, too? No, they're two separate trips, so you can register for one and not the other. I want to do Disney World *and* Universal. Do I need to register and pay for them at the same time? No, you can register for one now, and wait until later to register for the other one. Will you offer the behind-the-scenes tour (educational program) again? In order to streamline, I'm not coordinating any educational programs at Universal this fall. Will you get discounts at a Universal hotel for our group? Not this fall. I may in the future. If we stay onsite at a Universal Resort, will we be able to get the Early Admission perks with these tickets? Early Admission is tied to your resort stay, so you'll get Early Admission through your hotel room key, even with our tickets. Enjoy! Have more questions? Post them in this thread and I'll answer as soon as possible. Universal Trip & Registration Link: https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/universal/

  6. Here is the trip description and registration link: https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/grand-teton-road-trip/ Are spots still available for this trip? Spots are still available. I'll update this FAQ and my website when we're full. When are activities scheduled? We have something planned for August 22-24. August 21 and 25 are travel days. Will we go on long hikes over rough terrain? Each program will vary, but we won't walk over 3 miles (usually much less) each program, over mostly flat terrain. I live in the area - can I join your group for the day? We have a group campsite available to us, but you can arrange your own lodging, if you prefer. The fee is the same, regardless of how many days you join us, or whether or not you stay at our group campsite. Can I choose my own hotel or campground? Can I use points for my hotel? Yes to both - families can make their own hotel, campground, whatever, arrangements for my road trips, so choose whatever works best for your family. I recommend accommodations that are located in or near our group location. I'll provide more information and suggestions to registered families. I have a baby, toddler, preschooler - do they count in the price? Most children will count in the price. If you have a child under 3, let me know and I'll check on pricing. I have a 4-year-old (or younger) and older children, and no other adult will be going with us. Can we attend the educational tours together? Our educational tours and activities are for the whole family. We're flying in. What airports do you recommend? Here's information from the Grand Teton National Park website. Will I need a car for this trip? We'll meet in different areas of the park for our educational programs, so you'll need a car for this road trip. Can you give me an estimate for hotel, campground, transportation, flights, etc.? I can't give you an estimate since each family has different needs, prefer different types of accommodations, and will be traveling from different states. Research the different options available and see what best meets your needs. To reduce the cost of your trip, use credit card rewards points for flights or rental cars, etc. Have any other questions? Please reply in this thread and I'll answer and add it to the list!
  7. Here is the trip description and registration link: https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/yellowstone-road-trip/ Are spots still available for this trip? Spots are still available. I'll update this FAQ and my website when we're full. When are the educational tours scheduled? They're scheduled on August 18, 19, 20. August 17 and 21 are travel days. Will we go on long hikes over rough terrain? Tours will vary for each group within the block, depending on age and ability levels. From up to 1-2 miles over mostly flat terrain, to up to 5+ miles over mixed terrain and higher elevations. You'll be able to choose your difficulty level when you register. I'll try to group families with similar ages/ability levels. I live in the area - can I join your group for the day? We now have group cabins available to us for a great price, but you can arrange your own lodging, if you prefer. (We don't have enough spots in the cabins for everyone, so they're first-registered, first-served.) The program fee is the same, regardless of how many days you join us, or where you stay. Can I choose my own hotel or campground? Can I use points for my hotel? Yes to both - families can make their own hotel, campground, whatever, arrangements for my road trips, so choose whatever hotel or campground works best for your family. I recommend accommodations that are located in or near our meeting location. I'll provide more information and suggestions to registered families. Our group cabins are $682 total per room for 4 nights. This includes one room with twin bunks and a queen bed, sleeping up to 5 people in a room. Cabins are modern, and include shared bathrooms, linens, blankets, pillows, towels, a shared kitchen (with pots, pans, utensils) and dining room, a common living room, and great views. You must bring your own toiletries and groceries. Lodges and cabins in the park are expensive (around $350-400 per night). Camping in the park campgrounds is much cheaper. I have a baby, toddler, preschooler - do they count in the price? Children ages 4 and younger are free, but they won't be able to attend the educational tours. A parent, grandparent , etc., will need to stay behind with them and are free, also. I have a 4-year-old (or younger) and older children, and no other adult will be going with us. Can we attend the educational tours together? Children ages 4 and younger can't attend the educational tours, and older students must have an adult with them during all tours. I recommend recruiting a grandparent, uncle, aunt, adult friend, etc., to go with you to watch the younger children. They won't have to pay the fee. We're flying in. What airports do you recommend? Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) would be your best bet. Will I need a car for this trip? You can fly into the area and hire transportation to our group cabins (or the area we'll be staying in). However, renting a car would be more convenient if you want to get groceries, or do things other than our tours. Can you give me an estimate for hotel, campground, transportation, flights, etc.? I can't give you an estimate since each family has different needs, prefer different types of accommodations, and will be traveling from different states. Research the different options available and see what best meets your needs. To reduce the cost of your trip, use hotel points, credit card rewards points for flights or rental cars, etc. Have any other questions? Please reply in this thread and I'll answer and add it to the list!
  8. Spend the night with us at our Georgia Aquarium Sleepover! We’ll enjoy guided activities, behind-the-scenes tours, and also get admission to some of the aquarium’s special shows. https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/georgia-aquarium-sleepover/
  9. Here is the trip description and registration link: http://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/washington-dc/ Is the price quoted per family, or per person? The prices are per family, not per person. Are spots still available for this trip? We've reached our maximum, but are still accepting waitlist registrations in case of cancellations. I live in the area - can I join your group for the day? We have a limited number of tour spots, so they're reserved for my group. Can we opt out of the hotel, specific tours, etc.? We need to maintain minimums to qualify for group discounts. Also, I'm contracted to pay for a minimum number of hotel rooms to get the cheaper rates, so you can't opt out of the hotel. You can opt out of any tour on the itinerary, but you won't receive a refund for any missed tours/events, and you'll have to arrange for your own transportation to the next tour. What hotel will we be using? What type of hotel is it? Until our itinerary is finalized something may change, so I wait to share hotel information, itinerary, etc., until closer to our travel dates. All of the hotels I partner with are mid-range (for price and value), highly rated, family-friendly, in good areas of town, and near restaurants. I have a family of 5, 6, 7, (etc.) - can we all share one room? I have a baby, toddler, preschooler - do they count in the price? The hotel allows a maximum of four people per room due to fire codes. If you have more in your party, you'll have to get two (or more) rooms. This trip is limited to ages 5 and up. I read you're using buses this time. Will there be much walking? Should people with mobility issues go on this trip? Even with buses, we'll still walk a lot on this trip. Due that and logistical issues, I don't recommend this trip for anyone with mobility problems. I have a family of 5 or 6 or 7 or 8. What's the price? Family of 5: combine the price for a family of 2 and a family of 3. Family of 6: double the price for a family of 3. Family of 7: combine the price for a party of 3 and a party of 4. Family of 8: double the price for a party of 4. And so on... Have any other questions? Please reply in this thread and I'll answer and add it to the list!
  10. Here is the trip description and registration link: https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/pioneer-campout/ Are spots still available for this trip? Spots are still available. I'll update this FAQ and my website when we're full. I live in the area - can I join your group for the day? The ranch won't allow non-campers to enter the wagon area. I feel uncomfortable sharing a wagon with people I don't know. What can I do? A lot of families travel with friends and request to share a wagon, and others opt for a private wagon (if we have any empty wagons left). Others bring tents (and pay a cheaper price). Do whatever you feel comfortable with. I have a baby, toddler, preschooler - do they count in the price? Children ages 2 and under can go free with proof of age. Have any other questions? Please reply in this thread and I'll answer and add it to the list!

  13. Here is the trip description and registration link: https://www.travelinghomeschoolers.com/philadelphia/ Is the price per family, or per person? The prices are per family, not per person. Is this trip full? How do I get on the waiting list? We're at our max for this trip, but may have cancellations. To get on the waiting list, please submit a registration form as you normally would. You'll have to pay a $250 per-person non-refundable deposit to confirm your spots on the waiting list. (I'll send you an email with payment information after I receive your registration.) If spots come available, your deposit will be applied to your total. If spots don't come available by May 31, 2019, your deposit will be refunded in full. If you decide not to go after being offered spots, your deposit will not be refunded. So, in other words, make sure you really do want to go before registering. I'll share hotel information, itinerary, etc., closer to our travel dates in case there are unexpected changes. All of the hotels I partner with are mid-range (for price and value), highly rated, family-friendly, in good areas of town, and near restaurants. I have a family of 7, 8, 9, etc., and have very young children. Can we all share one room? The hotel I use allows up to 6 per room (with smaller children using the sofabed). If you have more than that, you'll have to get another room. This trip is limited to ages 8 and up due to the history focus and heavy walking. I have a family of 7 or 8 or more. What's the price? If you have a larger family, combine the price for a party of 3 and a party of 4 if you have 7, or double the price for a party of 4 if you have 8, etc. I have a baby, toddler, preschooler - do they count in the price? This trip is limited to ages 8 and up, and everyone counts in the price. Should people with mobility issues go on this trip. Due to the heavy walking associated with this trip and logistical issues with using the subway and buses, I don't recommend this trip for anyone with mobility problems. Have any other questions? Please reply in this thread and I'll answer and add it to the list!
