Universal 2020 - FAQs - NOT CANCELLED!

Recommended Posts

What type of tickets will you offer? How much are they?

We're offering two types of park-to-park (hopper) tickets:

  • 2-park, 3-day ($166)
  • 3-park, 5-day ($214)

NOTE: We were able to add extra days at no extra cost - 1 extra day for the 2-park tickets, and 2 extra days for the 3-park tickets. (All park days must still be used within 7 days. (The clock starts ticking after the first day you use it - you'll have 6 more days to use the remaining days.)

Do the tickets include tax, etc.?

The price includes everything, except parking (currently $26 per car). There are no hidden charges.

Are the tickets discounted?

I haven't figured out the discount since we were able to add days to our tickets, but pre-COVID-19, we were saving $148+ per 2-day, 2-park ticket, and $180+ per 3-day, 3-park ticket that includes Volcano Bay, comparing it to the online discounted price as of 12/8/19. (

What dates are our tickets valid for?

Tickets will be valid November 1-30. However, all park days must be used within 7 days. After you use it the first day, you'll have 6 days left to use the rest of the ticket. They'll expire after that and unused days won't be refunded.

Will you run out of tickets? Is there a reservation system for visiting the parks due to maximum capacity limits (due to COVID-19)?

There are currently no limits on tickets, and this is what Universal has told me about visiting the parks during our dates:

"Universal is not and does not plan to employ a date reservation system for the parks. This includes transferring between parks."

The only closure I'm aware of is, as of September 1, Volcano Bay is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So if you have the 3-park tickets, make sure to take that into account.

Do I have to register for the Disney trip, too?

No, they're two separate trips, so you can register for one and not the other. (Disney cancelled our fall 2020 trip due to COVID-19.)

I want to do Disney World *and* Universal. Do I need to register and pay for them at the same time?

No, you can register for one now, and wait until later for the other one. (Disney cancelled our fall 2020 trip due to COVID-19.)

Will you offer the behind-the-scenes tour (educational program) again?

We've cancelled the behind-the-scenes tour due to COVID-19.

Yes, we're offering Universal's excellent Behind the Adventure tour this year. The cost is $27 per person. (NOTE: Attendance at an educational program isn't required to get the discounted Universal tickets.)

Will you get discounts at a Universal hotel for our group?

In order to streamline, I won't get group rooms at Universal in 2020.

If we stay onsite at a Universal Resort, will we be able to get the Early Admission perks with these tickets?

Early Admission is tied to your resort stay, so you'll get Early Admission through your hotel room key, even with our tickets. Enjoy!

Can you add on the Express Passes to these tickets?

Yes - I recommend waiting until the day of your visit, though. You may find you don't need it.

You can get free express passes if you stay in a deluxe Universal Studios hotel.  You can also walk or take a boat ride to the parks from some of them.  Make sure the hotel you choose offers the free express passes.  We like to stay at the Royal Pacific.  It's a beautiful hotel, and includes the express passes.

I see the tickets are dated November 1-30 and they need to be used within a seven day period. If we start our first day right at the end of the month, like on November 29 or 30, do we still have the full seven days (going into December) to use the tickets? Or does the last day cut off at November 30, regardless?

Hi Kara, all days must be used by November 30. They'll expire after that. (They don't usually allow a month, but they like our group and know some families are combining Universal with Disney and need extra flexibility.)

Just a note that we've cancelled the behind-the-scenes tour due to COVID-19. (They most likely won't allow any events where we group up this fall.)

Warmly,

Since Universal is limiting capacity during this time, how does that affect our ability to go the park on a day of our choosing in November? Do we just show up when the park opens or do we need to pick a day with them ahead of time? Sarah

This is a great question. I haven't heard anything about having to choose our dates ahead of time, but I'll double check to see and report back.

Are these tickets able to be upgraded, like other tickets can be, to a seasonal annual pass (if the inspiration hits)?

Thank you. Kate

I'll ask and let you know. I should be able to re-open the trip next week and hope to have all these questions answered before I do.

Thanks so much. We are planning to be in Orlando in November and we would love to be able to visit Universal. I anticipate my group loving it and wanting to return again and again.

Kate,

I have your answer! :) They can be upgraded to an annual pass, but there's no youth discount on the annual pass. You'll have to pay the remaining price in full (not on a flex pay).

Warm regards,

Dianna

Sarah,

I have your answer, too!

They said: "Universal is not and does not plan to employ a date reservation system for the parks. This includes transferring between parks."

You'll be fine getting in the parks during our date range. However, beginning September 1, Volcano Bay will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so if you have the 3-park tickets, make sure to take that into account.

Warm regards,

Dianna

So to be clear, tickets for ALL three days is $166 per person???

Yes, it's per person/ticket, not per day.

I’m assuming there’s not a maximum amount of tickets you have for this, like some of the other trips...like, this won’t “sell out” or “reach maximum”...

There are currently no limits on tickets, and Universal has said this, also:

We would like to bring one of our son's friends that is also homeschooled on our trip to Universal. Can we add a ticket for a student that is not our child? We have not purchased our tickets yet either.

This is fine - just list him with your students on your registration form. (I also answered this via email.)
