We’ll explore the historic areas of Lima, tour archaeological sites and salt mines in the Sacred Valley, ride a train to Machu Picchu, visit Inca ceremonial sites in Cusco, sail on Lake Titicaca and visit its floating islands, and more!
Due to the type of travel required for this trip, it’s limited to ages 8 and up.
We’ll use a mix of transportation modes – bus, internal flights, trains, and boats. We’ll have to carry our own luggage from buses/planes to/from hotels, so one-bag travel is recommended. (Internal flights while touring Peru are included in the price.)
Round-trip airfare to Lima (arriving on May 6, 2021*) and from Lima (departing on May 15, 2021) is not included in the price.
*Most international flights to Peru arrive the same day, but late, so nothing is planned for May 6. Don’t purchase airfare until I confirm the trip and provide more details about transfers, tour times, etc.
We’ll stay in multiple hotels as we explore the country. Families of two or three will have one room, and larger families will split into multiple rooms. For example, a family of four would stay in two rooms, with two people in each room. A family of five would stay in two rooms, with two in one room, and three in another. Each room must include an adult throughout the stay. I’ll request nearby rooms for families who need multiple rooms, but it’s not guaranteed.
Rooms for three are harder to come by, so register quickly if you need a triple room.
Passports & Insurance
Due to the documentation required for internal flights and touring Machu Picchu, all travelers must have passports by November 30, 2020. If you already have a passport, they must be valid for six months at time of travel.
Travel insurance is required, and proof of insurance must be submitted by November 30, 2020. It must cover personal accident, death, medical expenses, emergency repatriation and personal liability, with a minimum coverage of $200,000.
Optional coverage for trip cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects is recommended.
Thoroughly research policies to make sure of the reasons you can cancel, and that it covers emergencies and any unforeseen circumstances such as sickness, death of a loved one, and acts of God (natural disasters, etc.). I’ll provide more information about travel insurance after you register.
You must provide proof of your travel insurance by November 30, 2020.
Price and What’s Included
The price is $2,175 per person. This includes your registration fee, hotel for nine nights, breakfast each morning, two group lunches (but not water or other drinks), all sites and tours scheduled on our itinerary, transportation during our tour, and group airport transfers (one group arrival, and one group departure). If you don’t arrive in time for the group airport transfers, you’ll be responsible for your own transfers.
Your final price doesn’t include airfare to/from Lima, sites not listed on our itinerary, meals other than those mentioned above, anything you do or buy on your own, mandatory travel insurance, and tips for our tour manager, local guides, and bus driver.
Payment, Cancellation, and Refund Policy
$1,100 per person is due within 7 days of my email confirmation of your spots. The final balance is due by June 30, 2020.
Please note: Due to contract deadlines and trip/passport requirements, payments are refundable only if I have a family on my waiting list to replace yours on or before October 15, 2020 and a $500 per-person cancellation fee will be deducted from all refunds. I can’t make any roster changes or give refunds after October 15, 2020. Your spots are not transferable to others outside of my waiting list.
Please make sure you understand my payment terms before you register and make your deposit and payments. Your signed registration form, waiver, and payment acknowledges your understanding and agreement with my cancellation and refund policy for this trip.
Our trip won’t be confirmed until we reach our minimum. If we don’t meet our minimum, you’ll get a full refund of payments made to me. Please wait to purchase non-refundable airfare until I confirm the trip. I have no control over airline refund policies.
I accept checks, bank checks, and bank transfers using the Zelle transfer method (check to see if your bank participates). I don’t accept PayPal or credit card payments for this trip.
You must list any special needs (food, physical, mental, etc.) on your registration form. I’ll check to see if your needs can be accommodated before you mail payment. (No money will be refunded, and no special accommodations can be made due to allergies or other special needs if you don’t tell me about them when you register.)
- Each person (including children) must be capable of carrying their own luggage.
- Children ages 17 and under must be accompanied by their parents on all tours.
- Children ages 17 and under may not be left in hotel rooms while parents tour.
- Proof of passport and travel insurance will be required by November 30, 2020.
- A cell phone and international data plan for one adult in your party is required for this trip.
